Personal Experience
Personal Experiences Team:
Personal experiences for students are highly important in helping to shape their learning, development and growth. The Shires MAT puts a lot of emphasis on this across the suite of schools to ensure that all students have an opportunity, and our new team are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that this happens.
Why is it important?
Having an opportunity to enhance our learning through a range of different experiences (irrespective of age) allows students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, helps them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, builds confidence and self-esteem, encourages personal growth and development, promotes cultural awareness and empathy and prepares them for future challenges.
What are we doing to enhance our students’ experiences?
In order to support this, our team, which consists of a Trust Lead for Careers, Creative Arts and Music and Sports and Health, will be working with students across all schools to provide engaging and interactive learning experiences (such as the Termly Sports Competitions or the upcoming Trust Carol Concert – poster attached), provide social and emotional development (through whole-school events such as MacMillan Coffee Morning, Children in Need, upcoming Remembrance services or World Mental Health Day events), provide opportunities for skill development (such as the Sports Leaders and Creative Arts Leaders programmes) and by encouraging experiential learning (through University visitors, guest speakers to school and opportunities to take part in workshops with experts in their field).
In order to keep parents/carers abreast of what is on offer across our Trust, we will be circulating our own newsletter (via Sway) at the end of each term letting you know what we have been up to across the Trust and letting you know what it to come. With that in mind, please see the details of future events for your diary below:
Wednesday 11th December 2024 – Trust Carol Concert (click here for more information)
March 2025 – Careers Events across the Trust
Wednesday 2nd April 2025 – Trust Creative Arts Showcase
Summer Term – Trust Olympic Event
We will be sending our more information for these events nearer the time. We hope to see many of you at our larger events and will share internal information that the students have been involved in across the academic year.
